My passion for Second Saturday comes directly from the experience I have had in my own life. My parents were divorced when I was very young, and I grew up in a single parent family. As a young man, I quickly noticed that our family lacked the resources of other families. As a result, I chose to become more responsible than other kids my age (took on the role of the missing parent) so that I could make sure our family had a sustainable future.
Our workshop attendees come from a diverse set of cultural and financial backgrounds, but a common fear is the anxiety around transitioning to another lifestyle. It is incredibly fulfilling to give attendees the confidence to transition by making sustainable financial decisions. We could have used a resource like this when I was young!
My sister and I have been born and raised in the San Francisco Peninsula by an amazing single mother and grandmother. I have been married for 13 years, and now have 2 beautiful daughters. We have lived in San Mateo for 13 years. Our families are here, our community is here, and I am building a sustainable, long-term business here. So long story short, I’m not going anywhere! All through my life, I have socially interacted with women more than men. Providing the Second Saturday workshops is really a natural extension of my personality and core values. I am committed to financial literacy for women in my community.
When I’m not working you’ll find me doing a lot of dad stuff, volunteering with Kiwanis clubs of the Peninsula, or surfing.
